Top 3 Reasons to Hire a Nutrition Coach [2022]

I am a nutrition coach, yet I hire a nutrition coach to help me meet my goals. Why is that?

Over the many years of coaching others, talking to people who refuse to use a coach, and having several coaches myself, I have found one thing to be true 100% of the time when it comes to our nutrition.

WE DON’T NEED MORE INFORMATION!

We have more information in the palm of our hand and the swipe of our finger right now than ever! Nutrition facts are not the problem. I think at this point people can look up anything they want to know about the nutritional value of foods, recipe hacks, and the latest fad diet craze!

So why is the national obesity rate trending upward? Why are 36.5% of adults in this country obese and another 32.5% considered overweight? And why is obesity affecting 1 in 6 children in a country that knows more about health than ever before?

Why, with so much information would you need a nutrition coach?

Here’s my take on the matter…

Top 3 Reasons to Hire a Nutrition Coach

Everyone who has ever gone to hire a nutrition coach has their own reason as to why they’ve done it. Some, it’s to lose weight. Others, it’s to gain control.

But it goes much deeper than the results of what you see – there are psychological explanations as to why it’s beneficial to hire a coach as well!

The Coach in Your Head Has Ulterior Motives.

That voice in your head is the devil/angel on your shoulder scenario.  Your brain is motivated by immediate pleasure.  You can beat the devil, but you need to train for it.  That is a coach’s job, to train your brain.

Learn to Eat, Not Learn to Diet!

Anyone can be “on a diet” and get results.  What happens after that?  You need to learn to eat well as a lifestyle as opposed to dieting for the short term.  No one should constantly be “on a diet”.  Your DIET is how and what you eat.   Depending on your goals (which should not always be weight loss), eating to support those goals is more important than the scale.  A coach can help get your head in the game for the long haul.

Habits Are Hard to Change, and We Need Accountability

Our daily habits can trigger unwanted behaviors.  Learning to prepare not just your food, but also your mind is where a good coach can help.  By interrupting the patterns of behaviors, we can change how we react to those triggers.   When you change your habits (behaviors), you move in the direction of success.  If success is defined as winning this weight loss war, you must first win the smaller battles of daily habit change.

There is no shame in getting help. Healthy is simple – but it’s not always easy. We get help all the time with business mentorship, cleaning services, lessons for certain skills, home repairs, etc…  Why would you skimp on your health?
