What scares YOU?

What scares you about “buying into” yet another weight loss or fitness program?

Is it the program you distrust or yourself?

I would say mostly we don’t trust ourselves to follow through, or to finish what we start. It’s really important to work with your tendencies and assess what you can do in spite of those tendencies instead of focusing on how hard it all can be!

Out of all the books, programs, gym memberships, food services, trainers, and shake packets I’ve spent money on over the last 25 years, the only thing that REALLY worked for me was ME.

They all work! The fitness industry banks on your excuses!  They want you to be impatient with your current program that you’ve given an entire 4 weeks (sarcasm) and move on to the next shiny object promising 30 days to the body of your dreams.

We get calls all the time asking, “Can you tell me about your nutrition program”?

I can tell you about it, but it’s going to sound very unsexy and easy, so you will think it can’t work for you.  BUT…the truth is that you need to have simplicity to achieve sustainability.

In a world where everything is overly dramatized and labeled, we need to call it what it is.  It’s  your daily choices!  Perhaps labeling it something like,  THE DAILY CHOICE PLAN, or  THE NO BS DIET would help us grow followers and sell programs.   Hmmm…we just like to call it coaching, but the marketing plan isn’t that fancy!

I know it’s scary.   It is easier to just say that, “Nothing works.  I’ve tried everything.”   You are exactly right.  Nothing outside of your own daily choices works at all.   You can pay all the money.  You can make all the sticky notes, download all the apps, and create all the folders with the cleanest recipes and workouts, then totally clean out all the junk from your house.  You can even hire the best coach on the planet.  But if you do not do your part, you will fail again and again, claiming everything is a scam!  Will all those little things help if you end up driving through Sonic on your way home to your perfectly cleaned up pantry? No…you’ve got to keep driving!   You must be your own momma and say, “We have food at home, boo”.  You will get home, be just as hungry and eat your planned meal and feel proud of yourself instead of calling yourself horrible names.

The human need to accomplish is strong.  We all want to overcome obstacles and hang ups.   Discovering that we are more powerful than our momentary weaknesses is life changing.  It builds confidence, which leads us to do more things we never thought we could and eventually completely transforming who we are!

There is no shame in asking for help when needed. Phil and I  get help with our  gym business by hiring a mentor.  Our mentor/coach guides us through tough decisions and holds us accountable to take action on the things we have tendencies to avoid.  Knowing we have action steps and will be held to a standard ensures that we get it done.  SHOULD we be able to do it on our own?  Is the knowledge there?  Yes! It’s the action with which we struggle greatly. We are humans.  We will ALWAYS avoid pain, even though we know It’s good for us.  We know this, so we get the help we need to succeed.  Failure in this is NOT AN OPTION.  We will do everything we need to do to make it happen.

When you really want to succeed, nothing will stop you.  You just fix the real problem.

YOUR DAILY CHOICES.

Are you allowing failure as an option?  If so, you will fail.  What will you do to make it happen?  Stop pretending it’s enough to want it.  You have to work.  You have to go through some pain and discomfort and come out on the other side.

If  you know what to do, but cannot seem to follow the actions required, it may be that a nutrition coach and/or personal trainer is what you need to get yourself in the right mindset (a “failure is not an option” mindset) That coach is not there to hold the secrets of weight loss and keep your attached to him/her forever.  It’s an investment in your future success.  The coach is there to guide you and help hold you accountable until you can trust yourself again.

There is no need to be scared.  You don’t even need to be motivated.  You do have to put one foot in front of the other every single day in the direction of your goal.  You will wake up unmotivated most mornings. I’m sorry about this truth, but I’m no liar.   You will need to do the work anyway.  You will want to quit and tell yourself results aren’t fast enough, this doesn’t work,  and want to try something new right before the changes are about to start happening.  Do the work anyway and stay the course.  Remember that your tendency is to quit.  Don’t quit.  Use your trainer/coach for talking you off the ledge.  You will find some success right on the other side of this moment.

I will  ask you again. What scares you?

The only fear is that YOU will not do it, so… just do it.  Do it today, tomorrow, and the next day.   Stop thinking too far ahead.  Take it day by day, meal, by meal, workout by workout.

I WILL 100% GUARANTEE THAT, IF YOU DO NOT QUIT, YOU WILL SEE RESULTS!
